Capture What Counts Photography

Day 17 – Gargoyles atop a Cathedral?

I had to look up the history of this cathedral because I have been very curious about it ever since I first saw it.  But yes, there are gargoyles atop The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, KY.  Twenty-six gargoyles to be exact, all carved in Italy.  Now that I have photographed some of them, I want to go back and get shots of the rest of them.

Oh, and apparently the purpose of the gargoyles is to divert rainwater, and protect the church from evil spirits.  Hmm…
