This is the Campbell County Courthouse in Newport, KY. Of course I love the clock tower. And the spire is awesome. But I wonder what happened to the other two?

It’s beautiful. I don’t think the other two are missing spires. I think the spire that you see was added. I googled the Courthouse and the only thing I can find regarding spires is a list of lightening preventer systems. The ones without the spires look more in keeping with pictures I’ve seen of that type architecture (Beaux Arts, maybe?).

found this site that has an old picture of the courthouse. the picture isn’t dated (as far as I can tell) but based on the autos I would think early 1900s. At that time it had the one spire so maybe not a lightening preventer as I thought. Shows what I know. But now I’m on a mission. LOL

Re: previous messages…still doing research…picture in link above dated 1924. Architectural style: Late Victorian/ Classic Revival.

LOL Elizabeth! I admire your persistence. I suppose I could have looked it up, but I was just kind of wondering out loud. I’ll see what I can find out too 🙂

Wow – what a cool place. You def. make me look differently at where we live. You “see” things that I drive past and take no notice to. Love your eye lady!

LOL You make me smile my friend! You will have to with me one day when I go photo hunting. And I promise I won’t make you carry the black foam board 🙂
That’s a beautiful shot and the HDR processing just makes it stand out..

What a great structure…I love each and every little detail on this…every time I look at it I see something new! Perfect perspective to show off all of the repeating patterns!
