Capture What Counts Photography

Day 253 – Cemetery Dancer

Today Rob and I went to Lexington, KY to meet up with a friend of mine from elementary school and her husband.  Kim and I discovered several months ago that we now live about 3 hours from each other (we are both originally from the same area in NC) so Lexington is about 1/2 way between us.  After enjoying some Indian food for lunch, we decided to head over to The Lexington Cemetery to walk the grounds and have a little extra hanging out time.

Since I was busy talking with my long-time friend, I didn’t take that many photos.  But I did think this little statue was pretty.

  1. Oh, I love her!!! She’s positively adorable and what a terrific capture. Lucky you – getting to go to Lexington Cemetery. I want to go back there in the spring. Maybe we can meet there one day? Honestly though…isn’t it incredible the finds you can make in a cemetery?

  2. And p.s. – only photographers can grasp the coolness of hanging out at a cemetery. Does that mean your friend is a shutterbug too?

That is too fun….don’t you just love meeting up with old friends? I did that last month and we just started talking like we did in school..felt like time stood still for us! 🙂

I love this cemetery dancer, she definitely is a breath of fresh air in a cemetery! Beautiful!

I gotta know, did he get his camera ordered?

    • Yes, it was fabulous seeing her again…and awesome that we live relatively close to each other after all these years! And no…we’re still debating on the camera, but I think the 60D is what we’ll go with.

I have a 4 1/2 inch sculpture of this statue that I am trying to find out information on. Do you know who did statue or sculpture? Is it bronze? Any idea of age?

    • Hello Laura, thank you for visiting my blog. I’m sorry, I do not know anything at all about the statue other than that it was concrete and it caught my eye when walking through the cemetery.
